Getting started
Install
Install Loquela from Google Play. It is available in supported countries; if Google Play says it is unavailable, check that your Play country is one of them. Regional changes can take time to appear.
The setup guide
Open Loquela and follow Set up Loquela. The guide checks four things and shows the next step for anything that still needs attention:
- Keyboard access. Tap Enable Loquela and turn Loquela on in Android's keyboard settings.
- The selected keyboard. Tap Select Loquela so Android uses it when you type.
- A voice model, if you want voice typing. Choose a voice model that fits your phone and language, or skip voice for now. You can download a model or change it later; see voice models.
- Microphone permission, only if voice typing is on.
The microphone permission and the voice model are needed only when voice is on. If you only want the keyboard, choose to set up without voice typing.
Before you leave the guide, there is a practice field to try typing and, if you set it up, voice.
If you leave part way, you can come back to it with Restart setup guide.
Switching keyboards
Loquela uses Android's standard keyboard system. You can switch to another keyboard at any time with Android's keyboard switcher, and turn Loquela off in Android's settings whenever you choose.
